Frequently asked questions about Glenby

A microadventure is a small task outdoors, close enough to fit inside a short walk, no big trip, no gear. Glenby suggests one or two a day, matched to the season and your area, and a photo with place and timestamp honestly shows you were there.

Ten minutes is enough for a small discovery task. You decide how much time you have. The often-cited 120 minutes of nature contact a week comes from an observational study, not a promise about Glenby.

Because that's not the problem Glenby is trying to solve. Instead of planning long tours, Glenby focuses on small, recurring occasions right outside your door. Our own page on the microadventure principle explains exactly how that works.

For daily photo tasks, Glenby processes capture time and, with your permission, approximate location. Verification depends on the available information and is not a guarantee. You check adventure steps off yourself; they do not count as GPS-verified tasks.

Nothing breaks. Glenby's weekly streak counts completed days per week, one missed day doesn't reset you to zero. That's a deliberate choice against the guilt mechanism many streak apps use.

No. There's no global leaderboard and no comparison with strangers. Progress is personal or, for two-person microadventures, shared only with people you invite yourself.

No, deliberately not. Glenby doesn't promise automatic species identification. What you see and document stays your own observation, not an algorithm's guess.

Yes. The database is operated on Cloudflare. Encrypted photos and voice notes are stored with Cloudflare (US, EU-US Data Privacy Framework), and chat delivery runs on the same infrastructure. There's no selling to ad networks, and the full list of processors is in the privacy policy.

Notes you write in Glenby are encrypted on your device before they reach Glenby's servers. Only you and the person you share with can read them, we can't.

18: age is checked at signup. Shared content is moderated, and profiles and messages can be reported anytime with one tap.

GDPR requires a response within one month (Art. 12 GDPR). In practice, we process deletion requests through our deletion page considerably faster.

Glenby is free to use from day one. Glenby+ is optional, billed monthly or yearly. Glenby+ Duo for two people is billed monthly. All prices include VAT.

Yes, anytime. Switching runs through the subscription management in the app (the billing portal of our payment provider Stripe), no need to cancel and sign up again.

Not yet. iOS is in progress. You can join the waitlist and get a one-time message when it launches, Android is already available on Google Play.

No. The Base tier works without any payment details. Only when you switch to Glenby+ or Glenby+ Duo does payment run securely through our payment provider Stripe; the app never stores payment details.

An adventure provides several short steps for a walk. You check them off yourself; this is not GPS verification and adds no task XP. Daily photo tasks, your existing outing plan and friend quests remain separate features.

Free discoveries, progress and a basic memory card stay free. The preview tells you before starting whether an adventure requires Glenby+. With Plus you can invite one companion to that adventure, without them needing their own Plus subscription. The invitation link is valid for 14 days and can be accepted by one other account.

Yes. Accounts that have never had a subscription can try monthly or annual Plus for seven days. The unchanged price of your selected plan applies afterwards unless you cancel beforehand. Duo has no free trial. An invitation to a single adventure is not a trial subscription.

A specific walk with a starting point carries an on-location review. Ideas without a fixed location are editorially reviewed and labelled accordingly. Still check weather, access and conditions around you. A label cannot replace your assessment of current safety.
